When you’re discovering someone (or something, like a retirement community), you naturally want to know more about them. Like what makes them special. What they believe in. What makes them a leader.
Royal Oaks first opened in 1983. That fulfilled the vision of founders Dr. J. Davis Illingworth and Roe Walker who desired a different kind of destination for seniors. One that offers highly purposeful and engaged living. That fosters an elevated sense of community, where residents quickly become lifelong friends. This realized vision continues to grow through an expanding campus that is continually distinguished by its amenities, living and support services, and legacy of leadership.
A record of financial strength that translates to better living for — you. There is a reason for this point of differentiation. We are a non-profit. That means we operate with the sole purpose of providing distinctive living to seniors. That status is made even stronger through our People of Faith Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt entity that has been operating and growing for over 35 years. Our non-profit status and our foundation allow us to beautify the campus, provide additional services, along with providing financial assistance to our residents.
The careful stewardship of our expanding financial resources continues to enable us to grow from a position of confidence and certainty. The financial management and stability we are known for not only is a comfort to our residents, but enables our leadership team to shape an exceptional future — for Royal Oaks and for you.

When exploring a new place to live, location is undoubtedly a prime consideration. Sun City consistently comes out on top. The location ranks exceptionally high in areas such as livability, amenities, and cost of living. In addition, the city is an ideal hub for all your travels, whether that means a quick day trip or a full vacation getaway.
Sun City itself offers a steady calendar of local concerts, festivals, and sports. There’s a rich cultural scene of art, music, theater, and performance. And then there’s the boundless array of shopping and restaurants.
First and foremost, we are in the people business. That is evidenced by the special people who lead and elevate Royal Oaks. They live our mission and personify our character. They build on the foundational pillars of engaged, inspired retirement living that define our community.
Each member of our leadership team brings years of high-level experience, and several more years at Royal Oaks. They are genuine, caring, and their go-to method of operation is to go above and beyond — every time.
It’s all about making a difference in people’s lives. That’s what being here is all about. We’re experts at making life more enriching for seniors. We do the same for our employees. When you join Royal Oaks, you become part of a larger family that includes your colleagues, management, leadership, and our residents. We all look out for one another, and we make each other better. Because that’s what families do.
Our team spans many areas in operations, customer service, health, and beyond. Opportunities range from entry-level to senior roles.
