Hurricane victims benefit from fundraiser organized by Royal Oaks residents

Raising more than $3600 for hurricane victims was the outcome of a wine and cheese social event organized by Paula and George Berscheid, Royal Oaks residents since 2014 (and wine and cheese connoisseurs).

Royal Oaks residents are nothing if not philanthropic. From organizing food drives, knitting caps for tiny patients at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, making thousands of wooden toys for children in homeless shelters, and even wearing out their tennies on walks to support Alzheimers research, our residents look for ways to help ease the country’s suffering. On October 8, 53 people gathered in our auditorium to socialize over fine wine and specialty cheeses and open up their checkbooks.

We caught Paula and George on video in their lovely apartment here on campus and asked how the event transpired. After you view the one-minute video, click here to see photos.

We are so fortunate to have residents like the Berscheids who see a need in the greater community and give of their time and talents to make a difference.
