Royal Oaks remembers 9/11

Royal Oaks residents and staff joined together September 11 to remember the victims and survivors of that fateful day in 2001.

The program started with our very own “flag runner,” Denise Eaton, a member of our staff, running through the campus carrying three flags, the U.S. flag, the Flag of Honor, and the Flag of Heroes. Denise runs with those flags five days every week, logging at least two miles every day and reminding all those whose paths she crosses of the tremendous debt we owe to those who have served and serve right now to keep us safe. As of August 2017 she has shown the flags to many people on the 10,950+ miles she has run.

Residents and staff gathered in the auditorium to hear Denise’s story and why she has chosen flag running to show her patriotism. Included in the program was this video of former President George W. Bush and his remembrances of that day.
