Royal Oaks' seminar on preparing for your future made a dry subject fun!

Royal Oaks resident Claudia Rumwell and attorney Allison Kierman presented a two-part seminar, “Celebrity Wills Can Be Wacko, but Yours Doesn’t Have to Be” to a very appreciative audience. “We want to present informative material in a lively manner,” explained Marketing Director Vicki Ullery, “and this hour seminar certainly accomplished that.”

Claudia kicked off the seminar. She is an educator, author, nurse, and patient advocate. As an expert in her field, and for the majority of her nursing career, Claudia was often presenting workshops and/or providing training to other medical personnel and physicians about the vascular field, along with publishing three books and multiple articles in the field of vascular disease. She had the privilege of advocating for her own parent’s care for 12 years as their health needs changed and they moved from total independence, to assisted living, and finally to extended care.  This “hands on” experience as a parent caregiver inspired her to create The Senior Care Organizer, which was the topic of her presentation. Seniors are encouraged to purchase this excellent binder so their adult children or power of attorneys have all the information needed as their loved ones or clients move through the aging stages.

Allison followed with a light-hearted presentation on Celebrity Wills. Allison is the founder of Kierman Law and specializes in focusing on life and estate planning. Allison concentrates her practice on guiding families through the wills, trusts, and estate process and probate litigation. She received her J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law, with honors (2005), her M.Sc.from the London School of Economics and Political Science, with honors (2002), and her B.A. from Baylor University in political science.
